Hello and Welcome to Making Musicians Music Studio, Inc.

My name is Teresa Thurgood. I'm a born and raised Idahoan with a love for the outdoors, music, and children. I have been married 32 years and I am the mother of eight beautiful and talented children, and ten grandchildren. 

I began my own musical experience when I was nine, which included, private lessons both in my youth and in college, festival performances, recitals, and accompanying my junior high choir and other solo performers. I also played the violin, the bass, and the clarinet growing up.  During college I studied music theory, composition, and piano pedagogy. 

I have been teaching private lessons for more than 20 years and added the Let's Play Music curriculum in 2015, the Sound Beginnings curriculum in 2018, and the Presto and Bridge curriculums in 2021.

WHY DO I TEACH?! 

Because music is so powerful! I love the way it can raise my spirits, calm my heart and mind, and bring me to tears with love. It makes me feel bold, confident, passionate, and humble. And I love the way children's eyes light up when they experience that same power and confidence. I firmly believe that musical experiences at a young age increases our capacity to learn and show compassion.
